Yesterday I fished the out going tide for over 2 hrs., mostly to check out the beach at low tide but I did manage to capture a couple nice YFC. More importantly I found not one but two spots that looked like they would be killer with some water in them. Called Poe and told him what I had found and I met him there about 6:20 this morning.

We both started catching fish right away and these croaker were not only big but fat too, must be stuffed with grunion. I had about 10 in the 12-14" range when I hooked this drag puller....

I was pretty pleased with that one and it was JP for the morning so far...then Poe hooked something and his rod is bendo for a long, long time. So long in fact that I land two more croaker before he lands his 24".............shark.

Tide was going out and our honey hole was getting smaller and smaller and the bite was getting picky. I spotted some deep water a bit further north and thought it was time to make a move, so I started winding my jig fast. About half way in I got slammed....hard. I knew it was a YFC and it didn't feel foul hooked...it just felt heavy. Every time I thought it had settled down and was coming in it would take off again. Had to tell myself several times to leave the drag alone and just work the fish. Several minutes later and the beast was mine!

I wish I carried a scale with me cause this guy felt like a good 2.5lbs.

Ended the day with
15 YFC
1 19" hali
All caught on 1/2 oz. blue/chrome KM

Poe landed
11 YFC
1 smooth hound shark

I'd be back there for tonites high tide but I'll be on my way to S.D. to chase Tuna for the next few days.

NICE :D

Those are some fat YFCs.

Good luck with the tuna, I heard the YFT were off San Clemente last week :!:
