Post subject: crimps for heavy flurocarbon topshots
PostPosted: Mon Nov 09, 2009 5:06 pm
I plan on crimping 100# and 130# flurocarbon to my hooks instead of tying for my long trip this year. Which are the best low profile, lightweight but strong crimps for this??? Are double barrel crimps better than single barrel crimps?? Thanks guys! :D

I have talked to a few guys that do these trips all the time and they like the single crimps.

I am going on a 10 day over New Years and really need to start getting gear together.

I will try to get some more info on which ones they use.

I still tie line that heavy. You can tie a San Diego and leave a little loop in the line. When the fish comes tight then the loop cinches down. I really like to fish a ringed Circle hook, but if there are a bunch of sharks and I am going through gear like it is out of style, I will rack the ringed hooks and go with a non ringed hook and use the method I mentioned above.

I used to crimp line until Jeff Debuys taught me the error of my ways.

Just my .02
