Post subject: Alondra Park Lake 8/12

My 15 year old son went down the street to fish a local lake here in torrance. He's been catching and releasing bluegill the past couple weeks, so I told him go and have fun since he's really getting the C & R view for fishing. He was fishing 4lb Izorline XXX on a spin rig for trout, using bread for bait on a tiny worm hook. About a hour later he comes in the door and asks if "I could help him with this". I turn around and almost fall off the couch. He's standing at the door with the biggest fish I've ever seen come out of that tiny lake. If you know the lake you'll be shocked. For the rest of you, this place is MAYBE 1 acre with a island in the middle & at most 25' deep. DFG plants 1lb cats during the summer but it's mostly a duck pond. Lots of grass and weeds covering the surface to the bottom makes it very hard to land fish. Here's the pic of him with his fish. It's also the biggest fish he's landed to date, fresh or salt water. It weighed 13lb 0oz on a digital scale.
